Eating a rainbow

food dietary nutrition colours

Nature has provided a rainbow of colours which help our bodies grow and blossom. It is vital to eat a range of different coloured vegetables and fruits to help get all the nutrients your body needs to stay healthy. Colour is one of the highest healing vibrations we have on the planet so it makes sense that the colours of the food we eat are powerful in our healing.

It is funny to think that so many “colourings” are added to food to make them look the way consumers may want– like Strawberry yogurt is coloured pink so it’s not the slushy brown colour it would be if made naturally. Nature itself provides vibrant and exciting colours, so use them to help yourself…..

RED foods for heart health and blood vessels, skin protection, cellular regeneration and cancer prevention. They are coloured red by Lycopene.

YELLOW/ORANGE foods, coloured by carotenoids, are for healthy joints, eye protection, mucus membrane health and lowering cholesterol.

PURPLE/BLUE foods for improving memory, cellular rejuvenation and helping the urinary system. These are coloured by anthocyanins.

GREEN foods for protecting the stomach, healthy bones and immune system. They contain a range of phytochemicals, all which have been shown to help prevent cancer.

WHITE/BROWN foods contain phytochemicals such as allicin, and help keep a healthy gut and immunity.

The colour pigments in the plants have long chemical names but science words aside, the message here is simple: eat a variety of colored foods to keep healthy!
